As more companies eliminated on-site interviews amid the rapid spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), many have turned to AI recruiting and screening tools to increase efficiency and lower the cost. The adoption of intelligent recruitment tools is predicted to continue post-pandemic and accelerate the global trend of “hiring remotely and working remotely”. Vijay Narayanan is appointed as ServiceNow’s first-ever Chief AI Officer, following the recent Now Platform Orlando release for a new set of powerful AI and analytics capabilities. In this new role, Narayanan will lead all of the company’s AI efforts in the Advanced Technology Group and report directly to the Chief Product Officer. Previously, Vijay served as the Head of Content and Discovery Engineering at Pinterest and Head of Algorithms and Data Science Solutions at Microsoft. [Read more]
Accounting automation software company BlackLine has announced that Sophia Velastegui, Microsoft’s Chief Technology Officer for Operation Applications, will be joining their Board of Directors, to guide the company’s AI strategies for its next phase of growth. Velastegui has 20+ years of solid engineering experience in machine learning at Microsoft, Google/Nest, and Apple. She was also recognized by Business Insider as one of the “Most Powerful Female Engineers in the World”. [Read more]
Komodo Health, an A16Z-backed startup developing healthcare map with artificial intelligence and other advanced analytical techniques, has announced two executive hires. Heidi Johnson, named as Chief Product Officer, will lead the strategy and development of new SaaS products. She was the Global Product Head at Bloomberg LP prior to the appointment. Eileen Tobias, the new Chief Financial Officer, previously serviced in finance leadership roles at Dropbox and NetSuite. [Read more]
Started Feb 26, Cisco Systems has cut 395 jobs from its San Jose and Milpitas facilities. Hitachi Vantara, the computer data storage unit of Japanese multinational conglomerate Hitachi, also plans to eliminate 151 jobs in Santa Clara between March 31 and April 30. The layoffs are potentially a result of the gloomy macroeconomic situation although neither Cisco or Hitachi Vantara states clearly the reason behind the job cuts. [Read more]
